Engine maintenance questions
Short answers to what owners ask us most. Call the shop for the rest.
Which engines do you work on?
Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A turboprops and JT15D turbofans. The PT6A powers aircraft like the Beechcraft King Air and Cessna Caravan. The JT15D powers early Cessna Citations and the Hawker 400.
What is a borescope inspection?
A borescope is a thin camera that goes inside the engine through its inspection ports. It lets us check the compressor, combustion and turbine sections without taking the engine apart.
What is the hot section on a PT6A?
The hot section includes the combustion liner and the compressor turbine with its vane ring. These parts run hottest, and they are the focus of a hot section inspection.
Do you do pre-buy inspections?
Yes. We inspect turboprops and light jets before you buy, with extra attention on the engines. See aircraft pre-buy inspections.
